Greetings, History Minions!
I'm afraid some of you have already forgotten your new goal statements. Many of you said you were committed to completing the blog post early. This is a GREAT goal, and one that you should follow through on! :)
If there are 62 students enrolled in this class, then there should be a total of 124 posts.
Here is the new topic, which also deals with the American Revolution. Select ONE of these three "categories" when you respond, and be sure to explain why your reason helped the U.S. achieve victory.
Analyze the political, diplomatic, and military reasons for the United States victory in the Revolutionary War. Confine your answer to the period 1775-1783.
Ok, so remember your post should be SUBSTANTIAL and posit factual information. When you reply to a classmate, you need to ADD A NEW FACT. Do not recycle or copy what's been said.
ie. "I agree with your point! Nicely done! It was (___repeated info___)!"
Get to blogging! Have a great week :)
Although the colonies had many disadvantages during the revolution a tactic known as guerrilla warfare allowed colonists to compete with the British. This worked well since the British were attacking the colonies on their homeland so they were very familiar with the land. Not to mention the very unrelenting and patriotic men who fought the war itself. The amount of perseverance the colonies had pushed them through no matter how bad things got to win the war and gain independence.
ReplyDeleteYes, they did have an advantage of that being their home land but the British soldiers were only fighting because it was their job. They were fighting for no reason, while American colonists were fighting for their freedom. I think this gave the Americans' a greater advantage because you will try more if you have a reason to fight for than your leader telling you its your job to fight.
DeleteTo the British forces, the North American land was unusually rugged: New England was rocky and cold in winter, the South was boggy and humid in the summer, and the western frontier was almost impenetrable because of muddy roads and thick forests. In addition, because American settlements were spread out across a vast range of territory, the British had difficulty mounting a concentrated fight and transporting men and supplies.
DeleteI think that the diplomatic reason why the us achieved victory was because of Benjamin Franklin. The colonies indeed needed help in men, money, equipment, ships, and all things to fight a good war. The long years of enmity between France and Britain opened the way for the leadership of Franklin. And he was not only the man to exploit it, but also the reason for the acceptance of thirteen states as a recognized nation in the world of nations. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso don't forget to mention that Benjamin Franklin went to France as the America's first ambassador and his humble style of clothing and his amazing intellect were embraced by the aristocracy. In no doubt America could have not won the Revolutionary War without France's financial aid and military aid but the one that was mainly responsible for this to happen was Franklin.
DeleteI agree Benjamin Franklin contributed greatly to the victory of the revolutionary war. He influenced France to help us when we were in need.
DeleteBenjamin Franklin's diplomatic appeal helped out with the victory of the Revolutionary War. Franklin was the reason for the acceptance of the thirteen states being recognized by other nations he also gained leadership by using the rivalry between France and Britain to his benefit. The colonies lacked many essential things to be successful at war.
ReplyDeleteI agree Benjamin franklin had a lot to do with the winning of the war because he was very patriotic. He was a very good "American" man.
Deletei also agree with your comment because i believe that Franklin had more of an open mind set since he respected every religion there was to offer. He wasn't one dimensional as the others might have been.
DeleteThe colonists’ knowledge of American geography helped create a home advantage. Since the colonists knew the land better than the British, American soil became the domain for the revolutionary force. Additionally, strong leadership from Washington and other commanders helped the highly untrained troops prepare for warfare. Finally, I would say that help from overseas was vital to American victory. Contributions from the French and the Spanish armies were significantly important to the victory against the British. Attaining help from European powers, especially enemies of the British, was a strategically wise decision because they would enjoy taking part of the downfall of their enemy's colonial order in the Americas.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Edgar. Even though these colonists were not the best of soldiers, they knew enough to hold off Great Britain. Don't forget about Benjamin Franklin who was also a major factor in getting our allies to abet us in this time.
DeleteI agree with Edgar knowing the terrain was a great help for the colonist. They did not have more soldiers nor resources but knowing the area provided them with the advantage of surprise attacks and kept them from surprise attacks. All the revolutionary war took place in North America and thank God the British were unfamiliar with the new world.
DeleteI agree with you Edgar but not only did the Colonists have home field advantage because they knew the terrian, but because their supplies and artillery were closer and quicker to gain, than the British. Unfortunatly, the Colonists had fewer supplies than the British but it took the English longer to gain them since they had to shipped down from England.
DeleteAmericans believed that they did have a strong chance of success. They were fighting in their own terrain which gave them an advantage because the British forces weren’t used to the unusual rugged terrain. One of the military reasons for the U.S victory in the American Revolution was the Battle of Saratoga which was the turning point in the war in 1777. Then when the Americans won, France was encouraged to support the U.S in the Franco-American alliance of 1778. A year later, Spain followed suit and also entered the war against Britain. Spain supported the Americans by providing them with munitions and supplies. Finally, the Netherlands entered the war against Britain in 1780. Then in 1781, the Americans had to surrender at Yorktown because of the large encampment of British forces. Then the war came to an official close in September 1783, when Britain, the U.S, France, and Spain negotiated the Peace of Paris. This treaty granted vast tracts of western lands to the Americans and recognized the U.S as a new and independent country. Then the British forces left in November 1783, leaving the American government in full control of the new nation.
ReplyDeleteA large diplomatic reason the United States won the Revolutionary War is that they had an alliance with France. After the Battle of Saratoga, France saw that the colonies may actually be able to win the war, so with the help of Benjamin Franklin, the colonies allied with France to beat Britain. The French supplied the colonies with soldiers, guns and other supplies to further help the colonies win the war.
ReplyDeleteYes and then Spain decided to help them also by giving them materials and ammunition for them to fight with:)!
DeleteAnother reason the Americans won was, not only was
Deletethe french helping them with supplies but the british were wasting a lot of money on the war by shipping soldiers and supplies overseas.
One reason why the Americans perhaps won the revolutionary war was because unlike the British, Americans had a reason to fight for."liberty!!"
ReplyDeleteThe British didn't really have a reason to fight for other than to just fight. Why is one of the reasons why Americans won.
I think the British were fighting for a purpose, not just to fight. They still saw America as a cash cow and were using them to get out of debt. If Americans rebelled, they'd be losing LOTS of money. That's why they tried to keep their power over the states.
DeleteThe things that consisted of the liberty were how Thomas Paine said, it was rediculous that a small island govern such a large continent. The Americans felt that the British weren't treating them fairly, and the dislike the peaked with the Stamp Act and Quartering Act.
DeleteI could see that as being a reason, but i believe that also the Americans had an advantage in knowing the terrain and in being able to use their guerrilla war tactics.
DeleteThat maybe true bu the British still had their motives to fight. They wanted to gain profits from the colonies rather than letting them be.
DeleteI disagree because I think that the British had everything to lose and colonist everything to gain. If Americans won they would now have another competition in the world as for Americans they were just the underdog.
DeleteAmericans prospered in the Revolutionary with their military was because of foreign aid and unemployed European officers that volunteered. Also the outstanding leadership of George Washington.
ReplyDeleteThere were many other leaders that helped out not only George Washington and I thought the military was a bit immature.
DeleteI agree, George Washington was a great leader. They also had a good military due to weapons and supplies from France who supported the colonies during the war.
DeleteI believe they were not poorly armed because the french provided arms for them as allies.
DeleteYes, be reminded that not only american leaders served the colonists... for example Marquis de La Fayette.
DeleteAna Mendoza
The Americans fought perhaps a very good fight. They wanted their freedom, and thats what they got. Americans wanted to get away from Britains government they were started to do things American colonists did not like. Colonists were very anngry. Americans thought they would lose but in reality they had a very good advantage since they were fighting where they were used to, and Britain wasn't the land was different for them. Americans also formed alliances which made them stronger.
ReplyDeleteyeah it didn't help that most british soldiers motives to fight was because it was their job. Plus Britian's tatics weren't very successful.
DeleteYes, the alliance with the French and American did help Americans gain the victory. Yet, the french had their own reasons for the war. The US wanted to end Britain's control and The French didn't want to let the British become too powerful. In the end, they both got what they were striving for.
DeleteIn the beginning, the Colonists were ants fighting a boot, a spider being held on top of a fire. They had little to no experience with even holding a rifle, let alone how to reload one. Each Colony had a militia, but were poorly trained, armed, and not uniformed. But with a lot of training, and with the Leader of George Washington, they were able to win some key battles.
ReplyDeleteWith Britain being an ocean away to get more troops, and the Colonists knowing the Geography with allies, they were able to defeat the British.
True, however, Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben, a Prussian military officer, helped train the Continental Army during the American Revolution War; he was Washington’s “right hand man”. He taught the Continental Army the essentials of military drills, tactics, and disciplines because the men were highly inept for combat in warfare, luckily Von Steuben succeeded in training them well enough to win their independence from the English.
DeleteI agree with you! Knowing the land where your fighting is a huge advantage...not to mention when you don't know how to fight...any little thing will help!
DeleteYea with George Washington leading the whole cause that made a huge difference in things. At the time George Washington was so inspirational he could get any one to take arms and fight for their country. He ended being known as the symbol of justice during that time
DeleteI love the figurative writing!!!!
DeleteYes, Washington was a great leader but another less recognized leader was Baron Von Steuben who actual did most of the training. In fact, he trained soldiers that could in turn train others. This is part of the underlying success of the colonists' victory in the American Revolution
We also had other countries help such as spain and france. those were also other reasons why we won the war as well.
DeleteThe u.s also won by Britain being so far away. it took longer for them to get more troops and/or ammunition.
DeleteThe American military at this time was very immature, but it's leaders were from all walks of life; George Washington (served in the French and Indian War); marquis de La Fayette (French general who assisted Washington); Friedrich von Steuben (Prussian general who helped drill the Continental Army to match that of the British forces). They each made a lot of impact on the nation though.
ReplyDeleteYes, they did have many strong leaders, but you didnt say how they won. Their strong leaders were very helpful because the military was not very developed, but i think the main reason they won was because they were fighting on their own grounds.
DeleteI agree Michelle. Not only did the militia had great leaders, but they had very well manufactured and efficient weaponry. Their rifles were advanced like no others, which really helped in fighting off the British.
DeleteOne of the military advantages the us army had while fighting the American revolution was that they had George Washington as a leader because he had military and fighting experience. Also another advantage was that when they fought in the forrests of America the British army was unfamiliar with the terrain and therefore the Americans had an advantage.
ReplyDeleteThis is true, but why doesn't anybody remember Israel Putnam anymore? He commanded troops at Bunker Hill and was the reason for the rebels success. He was also named Washington's Second in Command in New York prior to the Battle of Long Island. Plus, he is also credited with introducing cigars to the Colonies. "Everyone loves Cigars..."
DeletePolitically speaking, the war had become very unpopular and very expensive in England. It was hurting trade and leaving England isolated against the world, except for the German principalities that were related to the English leadership. Which I think helped the US win the Revolutionary War.
ReplyDeleteBecause the Americans were fighting on their own territory the had a greater advantage of winning the war then the British did. The British did not take the fight very serious because they thought they would automatically win because they had a bigger and more advanced force then the americans. With their leader George Washington in command, the Americans used this to their advantage. They put their minds together and used their land in a way the British would never have thought of, this gave the Americans a chance to put up a good fight.
ReplyDeleteYea bying knowing their land the Americans knew where to go and where to hide making a better chance for them to win
DeleteA military reason that helped the U.S achieve victory was Supply lines. Supply lines are a route or way on which supplies can be delivered from on place to another. The problem was that the British army relied on supplies. The supplies they relied on had to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Those supplies were used for the British military so if the military had no supplies as in weapons etc. that would create a disadvantage for them and an advantage for the American colonies.
ReplyDeleteA diplomatic reason as to why the Revolutionary War was successful was due to all the alliances America had. At first, France was the only country supporting America and the fight between Britain. Then, Spain supported them and soon even the Dutch Republic. With the weapons and supplies the countries brought in (mainly France) America was able to have a strong military eventually defeating Britain.
ReplyDeleteOne of the military reasons to why the Americans won the Revolutionary war against the British was that our soldiers had the knowledge of the American geography which was a great advantage against our enemies who lives thousands of miles away. Americans fully understood the terrain better than the British did. Also we had great leaders like Nathanael Greene and Francis the "Swamp Fox" Marion who where skilled at been able to understand certain tactics in specific situations. Great American Leadership was certainly present among our armed forces . Washington and other commanders helped to make the purpose of victory and focus in action. The contributions from other Nations were critically important as well . Having help from the French and Spanish ensure our victory against the British.
ReplyDeleteOne political reason why the colonists claimed victory in the American Revolution is because the colonists' opinions were taken into account on how the soldiers should fight. They were being represented in formal political decisions, which is something that has never happened when parliament had complete control of the colonies. That representation that the colonists had, and the opinions that they presented gave them really contributed to their victory.
ReplyDeleteA military reason for United States victory was Americans were fighitng for freedom while most british soldiers fought not for a cause ,but because it was their job. That was a advantage that kept americans moving , but the main reason military was one of the reasons for victory was because of tactics. America's tatics was way different than Britian's. American's tatics were more successful than Britian's which help lead to victory
ReplyDeleteI believe that the colonists millitary leadership and skills is what gave them the victory at the Revolutionary War. The Continetal Army was not just only closer to their source of supplies but they had a very good trained leader, George Washington, and most of the soldiers were very good shooters. During the course of the war the colonists lost most of the battles they fought, but George Washington managed to keep an army in the field against a large professional British force, an amazing accomplishment. The battle that really proved Washington's leadership was at Trenton (1776) when it looked like the Revolution had been lost he decided to hit back. In the end over 1,000 Hessians(British allies) were killed, wounded, and captured; the Battle of Trenton was won.
ReplyDeleteOne Political reason for the United States victory in the Revolutionary War was Thomas Paine's Common Sense. It was a call for independence that made thousands of American's want to rebel against British rule. Without Paine to help the unite the nation against Great Britain, there wouldn't have been as much support for the boycotts and other acts of rebellion and they wouldn't have made an impact at all.
ReplyDeletePaine also got many people who were "on the fence" to choose a side on whether they wanted to break free from British Rule and become Independent, or to be subject to British Monarchy. He even helped pave the way for the Revolution and war against Britian leading the way to American Independence.
DeleteHe also published 16 pamphlets in totals named "The Crisis". The pamphlets were contemporaneous with early parts of the American Revolution, during a time when colonists needed inspiring works. Paine's writings bolstered the morale of the American colonists.
DeleteI think the political reason was because the Revolution was inspired by ideas concerning natural rights and political authority that were transatlantic in reach, and its successful completion affected people and governments over a large part of the world for many generations. The political way that made up the foundation for our government was, when the Olive Branch Petition failed to be recognized, the Declaration of Independence united a minority of revolutionary American Patriots.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans Victory was in jeopardy do to the need of supplies. for example guns, medical supplies, soldiers, ships and money! Benjamin Franklins great leadership helped encourage the French to help out the colonies. Thankfully the French agreed and helped the colonies win the american revolution and to be recognized as a country.
ReplyDeleteThomas Paine's "Common Sense" was great influence on the American Revolution in the political sense. Through his work, Paine encouraged many people to get involved throughout the war. He influenced people to keep recruiting troops, spreading the idea of republicanism and also to keep fighting for their rights.
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent post about the influence that common sense brought. You also could have added that common sense also said how the king wronged us and how it made many of the undecided people fight for independence.
DeleteOne of the military reasons for the United States victory in the Revolutionary War was that the United States had a more advanced weaponry. One of the major things that caused us to be able to majorly improve in battle was that the British rifle's flint needed to be sharpened around every 6 shots, so they would have to stop fighting and either sharpen it or replace it, while our rifle flints could shoot around 60 shots before needing to resharpen or replace. More shots down range, and with easier targets equals a fairly easy battle.
ReplyDeleteThe British military at this time was at an incompetence level and enjoyed luxuries of taking their time and doing their own thing. The united states was not going to let this opportunity slide, they wanted their freedom.
ReplyDeleteThe colonies were driven by their desire for freedom against the British. They werent experienced in military tactics but they would be damned if they let that stop them. They had to learn to pick up a rifle. They used guerrila warfare against the British. George Washington was their general that led them to fight for their rights.
ReplyDeleteOne essential military factor for the success of the Revolutionary War was the colonists' knowledge of their terrain. Also the revolutionaries had very effective and intelligent generals.. for example George Washington. The fact that they had helpful individuals all over their land to aid them was also a reason.
ReplyDeleteAna Mendoza
A military attribute that aided the Continental Army win the American Revolution was Baron Von Steuben. Von Steuben drilled the colonists in to shape. He believed that the force of the Army depended on their ability to act as a unit. He began intense training in military tactics and drill. Eventually under he and George Washington's direction the colonists became a trained Army that had learned to perform together. This unity indeed aided in the confidence and moral of the soldiers which in turn helped in the fight for freedom and is still used in the military today.
ReplyDeleteI agree, at first the military wasnt fully developed but with the help of experienced leaders the military was able to grow and gain experience they lacked before. With all this training and combat occurring the military was able to grow stronger, giving the Unitef States the upper hand.
DeleteThe colonists wanted freedom but could not do it alone. They manage to gain help and alliance with foreign countries and leaders like Von Steuben. Ben Franklin helped in getting help. Also it was kind of a surprise to the mother country that they colonists wanted war out of nowhere. They thought they had them right where they wanted them but let power ruin their control over the newly made America.
ReplyDeleteOne military reason for the united states victory on the Revolutionary War was because of their experienced military leader(George Washington). I believe George Washington and other experienced commanders gave the United States a sort of advantage on wining the war. They taught colonists how to use a rifle and prepared them for combat. Also knowing the geography of the land, better than the British, gave Americans an even grater advantage towards winning the war.
ReplyDeleteAmerica did not just have there independence the started from ground up. The success of the war in America brought more politics to colonists homes diplomacy to the world and or military was sort of created in to super power. With all these politics going on our continental congress stayed together, we won allies and we became a world superpower.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. People such as Thomas Paine helped us stay focused and encouraged the colonists to create new political society that relied on the power of the people and not from a corrupt and despotic monarch.
DeleteSpeaking in terms of the military, the military wasn't very good and not well trained. The Military consisted of colonists and local towns militia. The colonists and militia had no experience or training in war but with the help of our infamous historical figures such as George Washington (Commander of the Continental Army), James Barrett (Colonel of Concord Militia), Israel Putnam (Brigadier General of the Connecticut forces), Benjamin Tallmadge (Intelligence for the Continental Army), and yours truly, John Parker(Captain of the Lexington Militia), the militia was able to acquire the proper training and guidance they needed in order to win,(Keep in mind, most of these men had experience prior to joining the Revolution, most of them had already been in militias before or had been involved in the French and Indian War.) These fine gentlemen whipped the militia/colonists into shape. These guys also had a fine overview of the Geography which was a HUGE advantage in helping to win the war. In the end, the Military was able to step up and kick butt.
ReplyDeleteMilitary: The American military at this time wasnt very good, infact iy was very immature, but it's leaders were from all walks of life; diggering from George Washington (served in the French and Indian War); marquis de La Fayette (French general who assisted Washington); Friedrich von Steuben (Prussian general who helped drill the Continental Army to match that of the British forces). With the leaders the american military was able to learn weaponaty skills and to develop a rather fair military, givin the advantage to the United States. The British military at this time was at an all-time incompetence level and enjoyed luxuries of taking their time and doing their own thing , not exactly trying to accomplish a set goal fast enough, which isn't exactly how you fight, let alone win a war.
ReplyDeleteOne of the military reasons the Americans won the revolutionary war was because they attacked not only high ranking officials like General Fraser but used surprise attacks like during Christmas. Knowing the terrain was of great help and so were the French but military tactics I consider to be of great importance.
ReplyDeleteI think that like u said the key to the war was knowing the terrain well.In order to the war to be succesful fot the US they needed to know their geography really well
DeleteI believe Ben Franklin had a a big impact onthe war. He was very open about most ideas. Because of him the first states were added to America. He even gained his powerwhile the was happening by making Spain and France go against eachother.
ReplyDeleteI know that its geography helped A LoT when in comes to winning the war.It helped because this was their land.Another advantage was benjamin franklin help from france
ReplyDeleteI agree with you but don't forget there were other people such as Lafayette who was also French and helped build the army.
DeleteOn a military standpoint, though the US lacked military stability, Washington, Lafayette and other continental army allies had experience well beyond that of the troops. With the lack of strategy on the British side, this overall helped the Americans win.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, but you cannot forget that we as colonists knew the land we were fighting on which was a major contribution to the victory
DeleteA diplomatic reason for the success of the revolutionary war would be the alliances created against Britain. At first there was only the support of France, which was also the main source of weapons and other necessary supplies needed at war. As time went on Britain gained other enemies such as Spain and the Dutch republic. Having the common purpose of bringing down the British they joined together to fight against them. If it wasn't for all the alliences made the colonist would've had a different outcome.
ReplyDeleteOn a diplomatic stand point the main reason why the Americans were victorious was the effects the founding fathers had on our society. The colonies were driven to gain they're freedom.
ReplyDeleteThat is true because George Washington was an expert on giving the troop motivational speeches to prepare them for battle.
DeleteI believe that Thomas Paine's writings helped bring the people to their senses. He informed the society of how Britain had been ripping away all of their rights, and convinced them to break free of the British Empire. This brought more people together to support independence from Britain in order to have our own rights. The Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson, also encourages many people to continue fighting and led to many revolutionary movements.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Thomas Paine encouraged many colonist to take a stand and fight for themselves. What also contributed was how Franklin was able to gain support from other nations
DeleteIt took alot for the Colonies to overcome Britain. but they had help from other countries, the leader of George Washington (even though was a pretty bad leader) , and geography on their sides. This overall helped the Colonists to a win over their Mother country.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, although their army was not yet as prepared as Britians, knowing the land gave Americans a great advantage and also the win.
DeleteLol yes George Washington was a pretty bad leader! But thanks to the help of the French, George had shown his true colors. The French helped guide George and Colonist to victory against the British Monarch. If it wasn't for the French, we'd probably all be fighting for bread.
DeleteThe victory of the United States in the Revolutionary War was due to its military structure. The American military at that time was immature, however leaders brought great contributions to make the American force much greater than that of British. The leaders were George Washington who served in the French & Indian war, Marquis De la Fayette who wwas french generalwho assisted Washington, and Friedrich who was Purussin general. Men who all helped the American Army rise above the British its generals
ReplyDeleteI agree. Goerge Washington served to be a great general in the contentail army as he was leading them into victory during the revolutionary war.
DeleteThe American military at this time was not developed yet, but it's leaders were from all walks of life; George Washington who served in the French and Indian war; Marquis de La Fayette who was a French general who assisted Washington; Friedrich von stuben who was a Persian general who helped drill the continental army to match that of the British forces. The British military at this time was at all-time incompetence level and enjoyed luxuries of taking their time and doing their own thing, which was not a great way to win a war.
ReplyDeleteA few military reasons for the United States victory in the Revolutionary War were the strength of the troops, their foreign allies, and their leadership. Yes they had few troops but the local militia aided them in battle. They used the Guerrilla attack that is based on a series of swift, hit and run attacks. Their foreign allies like France supplied them with troops and money. Their leader ship was wise because they learned from their mistakes and encouraged patriotism in their troops.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you because they had help from foreign allies to get weapons to defeat the British troops that were sent out . With help and training they won the American revolution
DeleteA Military reason for the America victory was the American army and new militias formed throughout America. Even though Britain had the biggest, most powerful army, the local militias used effective hit and run tactics. Another military reason was the Continental Army. It was led by George Washington and with the aid from france, the Continental Army became the strongest, well trained American army. Eventually, the army defeated the british at yorktown and ended the Revolutionary War.
ReplyDeleteBut it seemed to be the aid from France that helped the most because of their supplies and their war experience.
DeleteLet's face it, before the help of the French the Continental Army sucked. So bad that the colonist were losing majority of their battles. These are people who come from religious background and no knowledge on how to shoot a weapon or preform in warfare. Thanks to the help of people like Benjamin Franklin and Marquis de Lafayette the French finally saw an opportunity to degrade the British. The French helped by training the continental soldiers and aiding them in the fight against British monarchy. It was because of this that lead Americans to victory.
ReplyDeleteRereading my original comment, i believe i agree with this much more. The French aide was one of the biggest reasons America won at all.
DeleteBenjamin Frankin's diplomatic appeal had a major impact. The colonies needed men, money and weapons to fight a successful war. Long years of enmity between France and Britain opened the way for the leadership of Frankilin. Franklin was the reason for the accepatance of thirteen states as a recognized nation in the world of the nations
ReplyDeleteOn a military aspect the colonists won due to the "home field advantage". The continental army, though led by George Washington, was not as strong as it could have been. The advantage of knowing the land was one factor in victory. Another however, was the help of the French. Their aid in American training as well as war tactics were the ultimate push in fighting to win.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Knowing the land played a big role in this war. The French were just running through the land hoping the knew where the were going while the Americans just sat back and waited.
DeleteI agree that knowing where your fighting and about how to fight in the certain terrain already gave the continental army an advantage against the British army. While their was the help of training by experienced leaders of other countries such as France and others.
DeleteThe colonists has many advantages and disadvantages because of the area they were fighting in. The colonists were not soldier just ubtrained men fighting for freedom and independence from Britin. But they had some advantages like how they new the area the land they were fighting in the conditions the dangers they were getting involved except the British trained soldiers didn't anything about the land they had less advantages . The colonists used this to win the American revolution
ReplyDeleteI agree with you maria because the colonists adapted to their area and used their goal to keep them going and earned independence in the end.
DeleteA militarty reason was that the American military had great generals and foreign military help.Generals such as George Washington who served in the French and Indian War.Marquis de La Fayette who was a French general who assisted Washington and had a lot of military experience and also helped in British surrender at Siege of Yorktown.Friedrich von Steuben a prussian general who trained Washington's troops, improved sanitation at military camps and made the soldiers a lot better to match that of the British forces.Plus not to mention they were fighting in their own territory.Although the Brisitsh had a bigger navy we still managed to win the revolutionary war.
ReplyDeleteThe British had a longer time to wait for their supplies which brought their war experience to a small advantage, but what cost them some battles and possibly the whole war was that the U.S. colonies had a "home field" advantage and the aid from France.
ReplyDeleteDuring the Revolutionary War the colonies had allies that would want to fight against England. While France and other countries agreed to fight side by side with America which was to become a new country of its own after a certain period of time. The assistance from other countries helped America win in the Revolutionary War.
ReplyDeleteOne military reason the U.S won was the way they acted and how it had an effect on the soldiers. They were lazy in the fact and thats why it took so long for them to win because the british military acted if there was no rush in winning or losing. That wasnt the way to fight or even win the war but they won because their mind was calm.
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much that the British were so incompetent, they just simply lacked a clear strategy. I don't think any of them were lazy either, they didn't know what to do since they lacked a clear strategy.
DeleteA diplomatic reason why the U.S. had won the American Revolution was because Benjamin Franklin. He had asked nations for support in their cause. Franklin went to France and asked them for help. Since France and Britain had disputes of their own, France thought it would be a swell idea to attack Britain. This eventually helped us defeat Great Britain and gain our independence
ReplyDeleteAnalyze the political, diplomatic, and military reasons for the United States victory in the Revolutionary War. The colonists were fighting to preserve their way of life for one and they also knew the terrain better. The British had the Brown Bess musket as a standard-issue weapon to them useful but not that effective at long ranges on the other hand the americans used the French Charleville Musket and later on the Pennsylvania (Kentucky) long rifle which was way more effective at long ranges.
ReplyDeleteBeing at home the american had a pretty good chances of wining not only because British were for form thier home making it harder for them to bring more troops and supplies but also because the American use their to beat them. Since they knew the land they knew how to use it as an advantage.
ReplyDeleteA political reason would be was when the Olive Branch petition failed to be recognized, the Declaration of Independence united a minority of revolutionary patriots. The petition was drafted to show America's loyalty to Britain. King George wasn't convinced with the Olive Branch petition so war was declared.
ReplyDelete
