Happy Blogging!
The American Revolution significantly affected domestic views of slaves and the status of women. It provided slaves with an opportunity to escape their confinement through joining the army, which slaves believed that since they were fighting for the white people they would be given more freedom. Also the American revolution effectively gave women an opportunity to proclaim a more public role in society. As well that both Slavery and the status of women were starting to gain independence and liberty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Iban. At first only free slaves were allowed to enlist but the need for more man power opened the doors to all slaves. Although after the revolution the North stopped slavery things weren't all equal. A lot of the free slaves still suffered discrimination.
DeleteIndeed, women before this time period weren't really worried for but now they started actually care.
DeleteAlso, African Americans had a little bit of more power
Even with the ideals of equality ,which was called for by the Deceleration of Independence, slaves would not entirely be impacted by the American revolution. Although many Northern states had release many slaves the South ,which had the majority of slaves, continued not to budge even slightly keeping the money mind set rather morals that would go against it. In-fact most slaves that were released had little to do with their freedom since no one would hire them and people were not very accepting of former slaves altogether.
ReplyDeleteThe slaves were affected because they were allowed to fight causing them to think they would gain their freedom
DeleteBefore the Revolutionary war women were seen less capable than men, often given the easier jobs like tending to the home and family. They were seen as fragile and needed to be taken care of but during the revolutionary war when they men were of fighting the women took their place working and often even went along with them helping with the nursing and other needs. After the revolutionary war women were seen more capable and were given more rights.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what your saying about how the women helped working in the war, because a women named Deborah Sampson disguised herself as a guy and changed her name to Robert Shirtliffe and went to fight in the war.
DeleteI agree with your comment. After the men were called to action, women had to take control of things at home and some aided the men during the war. It showed that women weren't just good at jobs that dealt with the home and family
DeleteAlso, they were given a chance for education now women could really show what they were capable of.
DeleteI agree, some women helped by cleaning the cannon their husbands used so that it could cool down and not be so hot,in some cases once the husband was killed the women would take over and shoot the canon.
DeleteReally! I didn't know that. And weren't the women still see less capable of doing things though?
Deletethey were still not as noticed though. Plantation owner were more interested in the male slaves more than the female slaves
DeleteThe American Revolution socially impacted Africans and Women
ReplyDeleteAfricans- Although slavery did not end many slaves were freed. After the American Revolution, The topic of freedom began to arise criticism about slavery.
Women- During the war women had been given many roles such as nursing soldiers, feed them, and housing them. They had been given to help the "cause". The idea of Republican motherhood also arose. The idea centered about the belief that women should pass republican values to the next generation, and the only way to do this was by education. This was the beginning of early feminism.
The american revolution affected slavery by having slaves enlist in the army.many slaves contributed to significant wins like the capture of British general Richard Prescott. Afterwards many northern states emancipated slavery which drew a line in the slave states and free states. For women social they weren't seen as a mother anymore but more of a companion and friend.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kimberly. The roles of women in society was much more than that though. The involvement of women in the war was a spark of women gaining rights and independence as well as becoming a reliance of men in battle.
DeleteWomen and Slave roles were valued more due to their aid in the revolution. The women were under the idea of "Republican motherhood" which expanded education opportunities for women. Women and began to hope for equality and freedom, they gained voting rights, but the revolution only gave them a limited gain of status. Slaves were given the chance to gain their freedom by joining the army.
ReplyDeleteYes the women did gain a better.status to a certain extent. But this had them pushing for even more rights. Even in present day,.women are still becoming more and more independent. Women have taken higher positions that in past years, were only given to males.
Deleteslaves weren't given the chance to gain freedom many enlisted so they could escape.
DeleteYes I agree Joceline. Not only that, but some women were also seen on the battlefield, like Margaret Corbin during the Battle of Fort Washington.
DeleteThe American Revolution had an impact on both slavery and the status of women from 1775-1800. It gave the African American slaves opportunities to Escape the bondage and join the army. It significantly affected the legal position of white women. Revolutions within the Revolution took place causing vivid changes in the aspects of women and slavery. It gave a new light to the women who had been looked down on and hope for slaveries who helped fight the cause.
ReplyDeleteNo, the slaves weren't given opportunities to escape. They hoped to be directed into a new path of freedom but they were still treated as slaves.
DeleteI agree with Sayra. They did NOT give opportunities to escape. If we did, then Slavery would not have been a problem and we would not have needed to have a Civil War about it. The slaves absconded in the night for their freedom. It wasn't a walk in the park for them.
DeleteThe slaves were given opportunities to escape bondage but not by the Americans. The British wanted the slaves to side with them, and though they lost they tried as best as they could to keep that promise.
DeleteIn what ways did it actually changed the impacts on woman and slavery. One example In woman is that durind this time it gave them more chances for them to have an education.
DeleteThe American Revolution significantly affected slavery and the status of women. It allowed slaves to join the army while it gave women an opportunity for a public role in society. African slaves had a new hope that the army would direct them to a new path of freedom. The African slaves believed that they would be given freedom by fighting for their country. White women were also affected by the revolution. They were beginning to proclaim a public role in society. A woman was not only a wife and a mother but a mutual companion. Both slavery and the status of women were significantly affected by the American Revolution in 1775-1800.
ReplyDeleteAfrican slaves also fought alongside the British because they too were promised freedom if they served with them. Aside from that, women also replaced some men in the business and farming industry, for there was a shortage of men in those fields due to the American Revolutionary War. Both groups of people generally gained more respect, but to a certain extent.
DeleteI agree with you sayra..many African Americans chose to fight along side the whites because they thought it would give them a sense of freedom..the American revolution affected both women and African Americans in a very positive way.
DeleteWomen were also give. The opportunity for a better education so that she may teach her sons how to be successful men in the nation.
DeleteI agree, mothers became the most important among their families.Women took the initiative to run businesses and other side jobs while their husbands were away at war
DeleteWomen's roles became greatly distorted during and after the American Revolution, for they became more active in managing farms and businesses. Women in this time period also strived for younger females to gain more educational opportunities, shortening the knowledge gap between men and women. As women's social lives changed during this time period, so did those of many northern slaves. The American Revolution enlightened many northern states to abolish slavery or gradually emancipate slaves, unfortunately this was not the case for the southern states. The southern states tended to have a relatively longer process that would allow individual emancipation. Although slavery actually declined in this time period, a large number of slaves where still exploited for servitude in the South since the emancipation fervor of slavery did not catch on.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comment because it was not until the Civil War that slavery was going to be abolished in the South and all of the United States.
Deletei also agree with your comment. Women and slaves were on their way to a better future and they were both able to fight on the battlefield and feel as equals with the white men.
DeleteI agree that there was a change in the role of women and also a start of the idea of slavery ending.
DeleteSocially, the Revolution enhanced women's educational rights. Women began to be entrusted with educating the young, and they themselves received more educational opportunities than they had ever had.
ReplyDeletePolitically, the Three-Fifths Compromise affected the status of African Americans and slaves. States with large slave populations wanted slaves to count as people so they could have more representatives in the House. States with smaller populations wanted to exclude slaves. Finally, the Three-Fifths Compromise was made to count african american slaves as three-fifths a person for representation.
I agree, the women did receive more educational opportunities which is how the idea of "Republican Motherhood" came about. The Three-Fifths compromise was also an important political issue which later caused tension between the North and the South.
DeleteI agree. I forgot to mention about some opportunities women and African Americans were given.
DeleteA social impact of the american revolution was that women had more rights on different concepts like educaton. It also changed women's social position.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but in what ways? .
DeleteWomen now had the right for education which benefited them.
I do agree that they were given a little more rights, but that does not mean that they were viewed as equals...
DeleteAna Mendoza
Also this revolution gave women more confidence to think independently and think that they should be just as equal as men.
DeleteDon't forget the Revolution helped many slaves as well to gain freedom through the fighting of their country.
DeleteI agree with you it did, but you couldve elaborated more on what exactly happened. For example how the relations of men and women were far more equal than before, nd also decribe how it affected slavery.
Deletethough this is a factual post, you shouldve added the fact that during the revolution women were taking up new responsibilities because of the men leaving off to war.
DeleteIt also helped them realize that they would be able to play a stronger and leading role among society.
DeleteThe American Revolution impacted the African Americans and the women domestically. Women were realizing that they didn't want to just be home doing nothing. They started thinking of new ways on hoe they can help. Many helped the men in the war by aiding those who were injured, making meals for the men etc. It was this that sort of led to the reform movements of women. African Americans had the right to gain their freedom and were starting to be seen as people instead of just property. They were able to get jobs and be able to buy property for themselves. They had gained more rights then they had when they were slaves
ReplyDeleteBoth women and African Americans started to realized they too could have the the same right others had. Doing what you said they did made them feel somewhat respected and valued since they did so much for the soldiers and american men.
DeleteAfrican slaves were greatly effected by the American revolution because they were allowed to fight causing them to think they would in return gain their freedom for fighting for their country.
ReplyDeleteDo not forget that few women fought in the American Revolution hoping to receive the same freedom.
DeleteThe Women in this time had went through struggles to get some sorts of attention from their men. And after the American Revolution with the Industrial Revolution on its way, women were becoming a social factor; in working in textile factories in order to bring money home. This was a major stepping stone not only for Women's Rights, but also, job safety requirements.
ReplyDeleteSlavery was abolished in the North because they didn’t have enough land to have slaves though in the south they needed slaves for labor and the war didn’t really affect them in any way. All slaves were assumed to be granted freedom if they helped fight in the war, but America didn’t come through. This made African Americans very furious. Even though their freedom was overlooked, it caused Africans to come together and make them heard by fighting for their rights they deserved as Americans. For example they created churches to unify as a community among themselves. Slavery was not a major issue that was focused on during the revolution but the Africans saw it as an opportunity to seek after their freedom, liberty, and justice.
ReplyDeleteYea even with some chance of going into the war most African Americans did not get their freedom because of a low priority of the whole matter. Later on those who were free became abolitionists and would later make slavery a huge deal along with the North.
DeleteThe impact that the American revolution had with women started to expand with their mindset. For example, they started to think more about independency and more of their rights. They no longer any saw thenselves subordinate to their husbands or men. This led to the start of many movements for women in later years. For slavery, the American revolution caused many slaves to escape or leave with the British. Although America and Britain imposed the same proposal for the slaves for their "support" in fighting in the war, British was the one who actually came through.
ReplyDeleteThe American Revolution impacted both African Americans and women socially. African Americans were provided with the opportunity to escape and gain freedom through joining the army. Eventhough, African American soldiers did enjoy the few things white people took for granted, they continued to serve as slaves. Some slaves managed to escape the during the confusion and chaos of the war without being caught, and some went out to help others. Slavery continued after the war despite the efforts of African-American soldiers. Although slavery didn't undergo any major changes the aftermath of the war inspired many criticisms on slavery.
ReplyDeleteIn the other hand, women were beginning to proclaim a public role in society. They were given a wide range of roles to further their independence in the war. This affected the relations between man and woman to a more bonded level. A woman was not only a wife and a mother but a mutual companion.
the American Revolution gave African Americans an opportunity to escape slave-hood. The British, for example, offered slaves freedom for their aid in defeating the Americans though they lost they stayed true to their word. Originally for the Americans, slaves were not allowed to join their army, until eventually they were desperate for men.Though after the war majority of the whites(Americans) believed that they were unworthy of freedom, the African Americans did get a sense of identity. The African Americans were more driven for freedom.
ReplyDeleteThe American Revolution affected the social views of African American slaves and the status of women. It provided African American slaves with an opportunity to escape their confinements by joining the army in hopes that they would eventually gain their freedom. Soon after the fight, northern states abolished slavery and emancipated slaves. It also made women strive for equality. Soon, women became more successful and strived to be educated in order to teach their children.
ReplyDeleteThis is true, they also became eligible to work in textile factories!
DeleteSocially, during the American Revolution, women were not very important to men. Though the men of that time thought of women as useless, the women were usually the ones who were there when the men were harmed at battle and nursed them back to good health. At that time men did not realize women were often the only reason they survived injuries, so they considered them inferior to themselves, ranking women at a low social rank.
ReplyDeleteThe American Revolution had little effect on the social status of women and slaves. Yes, women were allowed to play a role in the Revolution, but soon, were expected to return to their regular duties (household duties.) Slaves were given minor liberties, but people continued to view them as the "low" of society.
ReplyDeleteAna Mendoza
The American Revolution had a great impact on women and slavery socially. Women's roles became valued for their aid during the war. As well as they were giving jobs so they could maintain their lands while their husbands were out fighting. The social status of women had never been so positive. Although slavery was abolished it was not completely eliminated . The Revolution was a door of opportunity for slaves to gain freedom and join the fighting of their country , even if it meant to loose their lives . Both Slavery and the status of women were in the first stages of gaining independence and liberty due to the Revolution.
ReplyDeleteBoth slavery and the legal status of women were one of the first stages of gaining independence and liberty. Slaves had a hope of freedom that they believed could be aquired by joining the army. They belived theyed be gived more freedom since they were fighting along side whites.slavery wasnt majorly changed just the view of it. Throughout the war sime slaves escaped and some didnt, nd a group named "Quakers" was established. It helped free slaves. Now the role of women did change, tjey were given a wide range of roles, furthuring their independence. The status between man and woman were level they werent just house wifes they were equal companions.
ReplyDeleteBefore the american revolution african american slaves had no chance of freedom and were being traded in and out through the triangular trade but after the revolution the question of slaves freedom were being evoked in the consitutional convention and the declaration of independence but then laws were passed making no laws towards slaves or talking of this for about twenty years. The american revolution helped shape the formation of slavery freesom.
ReplyDeleteThe American Revolution benefited the rights of African Americans and women in many ways. It gave slaves to join the army if they pleased. It allowed them to fight for their freedom. Women also benefited by being able to have a role among society rather than being shunned away.
ReplyDeletei agree women started to take the mens jobs since all men were at war. Women indeed were involved in the war some fighting and others helped as nurses helping with the injured.
DeleteI agree with you Simon in a way . Yes Africa American went to war to get freedom but in the end they were still treated as slaves
DeletePolitically, although women's status did not change much, there were some politically involved women during the American Revolution. They tried to educate younger men about the value of the soldiers fighting in the revolution, and why it is so important. Some public figures were Abigail Adams and Mercy Warren. After the Revolution, they gained more importance. As for African Americans, their political status did not improve much. They were just allowed to enlist in the army. Although leaders were hesitant to allow them to join the fight, due to the statement that blacks would be free if they join the British, General Washington convinced political leaders to allow blacks to enlist.
ReplyDeletePolitically, the Three-Fifths Compromise affected the status of African American slaves. States with a large slave population wanted slaves to count as people so they could have more representatives in the House. On the other hand, States with smaller populations wanted to exclude slaves. So to come to an agreement the Three-Fifths Compromise was made to count african american slaves as three-fifths a person for representation.
ReplyDeleteSince they 1st came to the new world for labor & slavery, Africa Americans have always wanted to be equal. Unfortunately, slavery was abolished in the northern states there were still signs of it even during the revolution. Women did have an impact on the success of the American revolution, but they were still the "house wives" they have been. It is not until later in history when laws are passed to give them equal rights.
ReplyDeleteThe American Revolution had little impact of the institution of slavery or the status of women during the period of 1775-1800. After the Revolution slaves in some states were granted small civil liberties but the institution of slavery itself remand firmly intact. However, people will eventually draw from the Revolutionary principle of "All men are created equal" to justify the abashment of slavery.
ReplyDeleteWomen gained status because of the American Revolution. They became more valued for helping during the revolution and this created a huge social impact on women and on slaves. This gave them both hope to have equality and freedom. The American Revolution gave slaves the opportunity to leave their master and join the army making them not a slave. It gave them both hope and insight to become free and equal. Slaves went to the army knowing that their life would be in harm but believed if the went and fought with the whites then they would be given freedom from their respect. When women husband's would leave to fight they were left behind with the jobs their husbands had or to take care of it. This Revolution changed the relationship between husband and wife because a wife was not just a mother but a companion. This made women feel more respected. Slaves felt like they had more freedom. It was the first step to gaining independence and freedom.
ReplyDeleteThe revolution gave white women and slaves alike hope for the future. However, enslaved individuals did not gain nearly as much as the white women during this time. The revolution gave slaves false hope of gaining freedom through joining and supporting the army. This was so;em the case, blacks were permitted to join however they were treated the same as if they were there by force rather than choice. For white women, the revolution allowed them to come out of hiding per say and support the men in the army. Women were looked upon as vital in a sense for their roles in the infirmary and rallying support through the states. With most male leaders leaving towns and going to war, it was also up to the women to keep up the towns and states involved in the war.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Although African Americans may not have been treated as equals to the white men, even though they were all fighting for the same reasons, this was a huge milestone towards their freedom.
DeleteThe American Revolution changed the way women and slaves were treated. They began to take the first steps into liberty. Women began to be more than just the common house wife. They were expected to keep the household together while the men were at war.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Camelia. Women did start taking responsibility for more than just raising kids. They were playing both the male and female role in a household. Soon they'd be gaining rights they deserved.
DeleteThe American Revolution provided immediate freedom to the White males with property right after the war, but it took a while for the African Americans to get recognized. They got to fight in the Revolution and the African women also helped in the war by aiding the wounded. After that they could get their right of freedom but it took alot more to get all of the African Americans free
ReplyDeleteThe American revolution impacted the social status of the women and the African Americans. The womens role in society changed since they began to run their own farms. Their role in society began to take a positive effect. In the case of the African
ReplyDeleteAmerican their role in society also changed positively considering they were able to fight for both sides in the war. and saw it as an oportunity where they could recive their freedom and not to mention theey had freedom to fight as loyalist due to the dunmores proclamation.
The American Revolution provided African Americans and women with more of a political impact in society. When the war broke out, America needed as many hands as they could get. This meant that African Americans and women could help out on the battlefield. This common cause united the entire nation and helped us progress. African Americans who fought in the war could now gain their independence, and women were no longer seen as just human sewing machines. They were somehow tougher and purer, and expected to guide their men along the right track.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Angel, the African Americans fought alongside the Whites thinking they could fight and further increase their chances of Freedom.
DeleteDuring the American Revolution social status of both women and slaves began to change. Women held more responsibility while the men were away fighting. Women worked and managed their own farms. Male labor was now being done by women because the men were not around to get the job done. Slaves on the other hand were active among the war. Many went out and fought even though they had no rights. Everything that both women and slaves did during the war made way to a path. The path that they were now taking to gaining rights.
ReplyDeleteIn Response To Mariajose: I agree with you. Women did help aid the wounded during war. This gave them hope to be more than to just stay at home. I forgot to mention that in mine. Great job!
ReplyDeleteDomestically, The American Revolution changed the role of women by allowing them to not only maintain their education or work around the house, but to allow them to follow the men out on the battlefield and help by maintaining their wounds and weapons. The women were also allowed to take charge of the farm while men were away. Domestically and Politically African American Slaves were allowed to take arms and join the army because the army needed all the help they could get. The African Americans also joined thinking they could fight and gain their freedom by fighting alongside the Whites.
ReplyDeleteI agree but don't forget in the middle of battle they got freedom if they didn't get caught when they ran away
DeleteThe American Revolution really affected the peoples view of slaves and the status of women. It gave a reason for the slaves to stop working and join the army so they thought fighting for the white man would give them more respect and what not. The American revolution effectively gave women an opportunity to proclaim a more public role in society so they were some what equal.
ReplyDeleteYes the revolution spurred women on a feminist path. it was sort of their own "revolution". also unfortunately in the north slaves were appreciated as a race. but the individual was treated very inhumanely.
DeleteThe American Revolution impacted women through a concept known as Republican Motherhood. Men were too caught up running the new nation. Women had to increase their level of involvement in domestic affairs. She was expected to teach her sons (the future important men) classical skills and morals. Because of this task new opportunities for education were available for women affecting their social sphere. Many African Americans that were slaves and not on level with other people were allowed to fight alongside white men in the war and this gave way to the emancipation of some slaves. The revolution sparked many social reforms that would include women's rights and the abolitionist movement because of what these groups endured during the time.
ReplyDeleteWomen's roles became more valued for their aid in the revolution and were under the idea of republican motherhood. They even gained voting rights, however only limited gain of status was gained. Although the slave trade was banned, and in northern states was abolished, it did not completey remove slavery. The ideals of the revolution inspired women and slaves for equality, freedom, and independence that would contribute in the future. The revolution gave the African american slaves opportunities to escape bondage and join the army.
ReplyDeleteThe domestic impacts of the American Revolution on African Americans and women caused them to work hard at no matter where they live at. Women had to take care of the farm while their husbands were at war. The African Americans wanted to have freedom so they joined the troops in battle but instead they were still treated like slaves. They had to clean up after everybody and listen to any orders they received.
ReplyDeleteI agree that slaves joined to be free, yet they still were treated as anything but equal to the white men. Women were starting to be more responsible with more things such as farms that weren't being taken care of by anyone else.
Delete(domestic)the American revolution the southern women became masters of the home. it was treated as their own little spear. specifically in the south they were in charge of the "staff" which included all the house slaves which were usually women also. in this spear, the home, the relationship between mistress and slave were usually on a friendlier level. some house slaves were even happy to consider themselves 'part of the family'.
ReplyDeleteWomen and African Americans were greatly affected by the American Revolution. Women's roles became more valued for their aid in the revolution and were under the idea of "Republican Motherhood." They had to educate the next generation, and in order to do that, they themselves needed education. African American slaves received opportunities to escape the bondage and join the army. African American slaves who had only the slightest chance to obtaining their own freedom had a new hope that the army would direct them to that path. Nevertheless, there were no intentions of giving new privileges to these slaves in the army. However, overall, the revolution only lead to a limited gain of status.
ReplyDeleteThe domestic aspects after the American revolution caused women and slaves to work hard at anything they did. women had to take over the house hold. Slaves were pushed to a unimaginable limit.
DeleteThe three-fifths compromise had a social impact on people because it showed how we saw the slaves as being beneath us. It allowed slaves to be counted as "three-fifths of a person" which meant that their life was seen as less valuable than a white person's life.
ReplyDeleteEconomically, slavery was abolished in the North because they didn't have enough land to even have slaves. In the south they needed the slaves for labor so the war didn't really affect them there. All slaves were supposed to be granted freedom if they helped fought but america didn't go through with their promises. This made the African Americans very upset.
ReplyDeleteSlavery wasn't abolished after the American Revolution, it was after the American Civil War.
DeleteBefore the revolution women were weak and fragile they were known to work inside the house and take care of the kids nothing more but that what the revolution was going on the men were fighting and the woman were stuck to do the men's jobs. When the men Came home. The woman got voting rights and were supposedly equal
ReplyDeleteI agree with you because people realized that women can do jobs that men can and even better because they werent happy with their slave like lives anymore.
DeleteWomen's roles became more valued for their aid in the revolution and were under the idea of "Republican motherhood". They began to have ideas of the revolution stimulate hopes and expectations for equality and freedom. African-American soldiers enjoyed the few things white people took for granted, but other than that they only continued to serve as a slave. A group called the "Quakers" formed to help free a small percentage of slaves.
ReplyDeleteYes, The Quakers were mostly located in the northern states where they had ended slavery.
DeleteWith the impact of the American Revolution on slaves it separated the northern states from the southern. In the army slaves were sent to fight in the war and after the win the northern states thanked them and ended slavery, While the South did not. Women weren't seen as house wives as much either. The women had to actually work now.
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of iffy about your post, Doug. Half of what you said seems to sound true. But to clarify, slaves were not sent, they voluntarily went. And women were in the era of "Republican Womanhood", meaning they had values they had to embrace and they'd pass it on to their children, so I highly doubt woman had to work.
DeleteWomen's role in society during the American Revolution was all in attempts to push for the victory, but they could only do so from the corner. Before the revolution they were considered fragile but during and after they idea of Republican Motherhood came to be, which is the idea that women were no longer as fragile but had to keep a certain composure.
ReplyDeleteAfrican Americans rights as slaves was as hopeless as never being free, yet they were given another choice rather than being a slave their whole life. Enlisting in the army was a choice given to slaves to fight for their country which needed help and more man power. While women were brought up from the darkness of their home, and they were taken from cleaning and caring of the home and their children to helping in the war and to being seen as a voice that would later be used to give them rights.
ReplyDeleteAfrican Americans were freed well in the north as soon as the war ended. As for blacks south of the Mason Dixon Line were freed about 30 years after the end of the civil war.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. Women contributed to the revolutionary was by being nurses and helping the wounded in battle yet womens sufferage didnt happen till 1920.
ReplyDeleteThe American Revolution had an impact on women and on African Americans role in the nation. Women started to be seen as something more important than just being in the home cleaning. Instead of that there was a change in how women were seen in the midst of the war. Women helped in the war by nursing some injured while serving for their country. African Americans were given the idea of being free if they in listed to help win against the British.
ReplyDelete
